Last month we asked the nation to get talking about mental health for Time to Talk Day. It was great to see so many people opening up and having conversations, but we know that tackling mental health stigma is a year-round task.
That’s why we’re building a network of Time to Change Hubs across the country, to fight stigma and campaign for change in their local areas. Last week we announced 18 additional Hubs – read on to find out more.
New Time to Change Hubs announced
Last week 18 areas of the country were awarded Time to Change Hub status to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination locally.
The Hubs typically include local authorities, healthcare and charity partners, as well as people (Champions) from the community with their own personal experience of mental health problems.
Because I looked ‘healthy’, my eating disorder was dismissed
“My struggle was made unnecessarily harder by people who were too blinded by their own ideas of anorexia to fight for me.”
Nayena’s eating disorder was dismissed by friends, family and professionals because she looked ‘a healthy weight’.
