The national Carers Week campaign raises awareness of caring, the issues that carers face and the contribution they make. It also helps people who don’t identify themselves as carers to get recognition and support.
As a result of the pandemic, support for carers is needed more than ever and this year Carers Week is all about helping to Make Caring Visible and Valued.
Newcastle Carers is hosting several Carers Week events:
- Tuesday 8 June, 1 – 2pm Do you care? A workshop for professionals about carers and employability
- Wednesday 9 June, 1.30 – 2.30pm Carers Online Relaxation and Wellbeing Classes
- Thursday 10 June, 10.30 – 11.30am Mental health carers journey – Care to hear my voice too? For professionals
- Thursday 10 June, 1.30 – 2.30pm
Launch of Everything in Place Training Programme for carers
Newcastle City Council have also published a programme of events including safeguarding, pilates and support services available for carers.
